MATCH PREVIEW: Reds host Rammy
There is full league programme scheduled for Tuesday with Reds back in action at Borough Park for the visit of Ramsbottom United (7.45pm).
The NPL West encounter is the first of two home games this week with Bootle due in town on Saturday.
The value of the excellent win at Leek Town at the weekend can only be judged after Tuesday – no good winning at a title rival then dropping points in your next home match.
Opponents Ramsbottom, title rivals of Reds just a few seasons ago, have had a tough time this term and travel to west Cumbria in desperate need of points to aid their fight against relegation.
They have suffered sixteen league defeats already this season, eight at home and eight away, and one of those was inflicted upon them by Workington back in September. The 3-0 victory at the Riverside Stadium was Reds’ first away win of the current campaign and also their most emphatic at Acre Bottom.
Reuben Jerome has scored in this fixture for both clubs and was on target for Reds in the earlier meeting along with Conor Tinnion and Scott Allison.
The clubs have gone in different directions since then with Reds amassing 53 points in contrast to Rammy’s tally of 19.
Danny Grainger had mixed news at the weekend. Ceiran Casson returned to the squad and got on to the field for the last few minutes – his first involvement for two months. But top scorer Dav Symington was withdrawn after an hour after sustaining a strain in his upper body.
Both will be assessed ahead of kick off before the manager names his starting XI.
