MATCH PREVIEW: Reds head for Giant Axe
With two important away games scheduled for next week, Reds will give game time to several players who haven’t played too often recently in a friendly at Lancaster City.
They will travel to the Giant Axe for a hastily arranged run-out against the NPL Premier Division outfit, ahead of the crucial league fixtures at Bootle (Tuesday) and Leek Town (Saturday).
City, who recorded a 2-1 pre-season win at Borough Park last July, are currently mid-table in the division above Reds but have lost touch with the play-off places in recent weeks. They have won thirteen, drew three and lost sixteen of their thirty two matches to date, amassing 42 points so far.
It will be an early start in Lancashire with the match kicking off at 11am. Fellow promotion rivals, Marine are also without a league game, a Saturday originally left blank by the League, but leaders Warrington Rylands could move three points clear at the top of NPL West if they win at Kendal Town whilst Leek Town could move up to 65 points if they overcome Ramsbottom United.
