MATCH PREVIEW: Rammy in town
The Northern Premier League has thrown up some interesting mid-week fixtures and none more so than Tuesday’s Workington v. Ramsbottom United clash at Borough Park (7.45pm).
It is one of several key fixtures which could put a different slant on the West Division league table which Reds lead before kick-off. Chris Willcock’ s current team are two points clear of four teams, all on fifteen points, and four points ahead of his former club, Ramsbottom.
With leaders, Workington, taking on seventh place Rammy, there will be no suggestion of management or the playing staff averting their attention elsewhere but the supporters on the terraces may be keeping tabs on other games including Clitheroe (6th) v. Marine (2nd), Trafford (3rd) v. Mossley (5th) and Runcorn (4th) who travel the short distance to Bootle (20th).
We never met last season, either at home or away, but 2019-20 encounters saw the home team securing all three points.
There have been eleven league and club clashes previously with the head-to-head showing Workington with four wins, Ramsbottom with two and five draws although one of the latter led to a penalty shoot-out which Workington narrowly won.
