MATCH PREVIEW: Old boys return for friendly number 8

Reds will host Lancaster City in their eighth pre-season game on Saturday with the NPL Premier Division outfit expected to provide a tough work-out at Borough Park (3pm).

In what will be Chris Willcock’s first home game in charge, Reds supporters can welcome the new manager to the club and renew acquaintances with some Workington ‘old boys’.

Liam Brockbank will make his first return after spending two successful seasons with us and will be joined by fellow former Reds Niall Cowperthwaite, Rob Wilson and Tom Kilifin.  All four made positive contributions to the Reds caused during their time in west Cumbria but are now part of a strong City squad pieced together by Mark Fell.

Jordan Little, Scott Allison and Ceiran Casson will not feature against City but the majority of the squad which earned a narrow 2-1 at Carlisle City will be available. We hosted City last year (pictured) and, after a cracking game, emerged narrow 4-3 winners in a match played in heavy rain.
