MATCH PREVIEW: No place to Hyde

Danny Grainger’s side will have to produce another brave performance when they travel to play an in-form Hyde United side on Saturday (3pm).

The Tigers are bang-in form and four wins and two draws in recent weeks has catapulted them into the top four.  In their last two outings, they have netted five goals against Bradford Park Avenue and Morpeth Town with a Cheshire Cup win over Altrincham in midweek thrown in for good measure.

They have won fourteen league games so far, seven at home and seven away and, like Reds, have netted over fifty league goals to date.  Reds remain in 13th position but Hyde have established a sizable fourteen points gap between us, both having played 27 games.

It will be the first league meeting between the sides this season following the postponement of the home clash in December.

We did meet at Borough Park in the Trophy back in October with Hyde emerging deserved 3-1 winners on the day.

Danny Grainger will be without Sam Smith this weekend, due to his harsh sending off against Whitby, coupled with the irony that Joe Bunney could make his first league start for Hyde.  Joe has joined the Tigers for the remainder of the season adding another club to his impressive CV.

It will be a good opportunity to thank Joe for efforts for Reds during November, December and January.

Workington first played at the Walker Lane stadium during the ’82-83 season and Saturday’s encounter will mark their seventeenth visit for NPL and Conference North business.  In the past, they have recorded five victories there, suffered five defeats and drawn six times so not a bad ‘hunting ground’ overall.

Venue: The Project Solar Stadium
