MATCH PREVIEW: More new faces for Reds squad

Shuffling the pack has become a pre-match ritual for Chris Willcock in his short time as Workington boss and he will be going through the same process ahead of Saturday’s first ever visit to the DCBL Stadium.

The manager has added two more players to the squad with the newcomers likely to replace injured duo Rowan Roache and Reuben Jerome for the NPL West division encounter against Widnes.

Connor Gaul and Louis Rowe registered with the club in time for Saturday’s game, adding even more strength in depth to a seriously depleted squad.

Gaul was previously with Clitheroe and has also served the likes of Atherton Collieries, Colne and Kendal Town.  Rowe has been with Liversedge recently but began his professional career with Barnsley.

Reds and Widnes have been in the same division for three seasons now but this will be just the second meeting.  The only other encounter was played two years ago at Borough Park with Reds securing a 2-0 win.

Widnes have just re-engaged Dave Dempsey with the former first team coach returning as manager following a spell with Ashton Town.  It will be his first match in charge with his team currently in 18th position and one of four clubs on four points.

Admission is by ticket only with information via the Widnes FC website.
