MATCH PREVIEW: More comings and goings

It has been another busy week for the manager and club secretary with more personnel changes to the squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Nottingham.

With loan players Kofi Moore and Josh O’Brien recalled to their parent clubs, Oldham Athletic and Carlisle United respectively, Reds have made a permanent signing with the recruitment of twenty-one old Marske United defender, Camron Gbadebo.

The Cumbrian based Londoner signed for the club on Thursday after a seven-day notice of approach to league rivals Marske.  The defender actually featured against Reds last month and scored the first goal in our 3-0 defeat at Mount Pleasant.

The club, who played a maximum of five loan players at Guiseley last week, have had to borrow on a regular basis to compensate for the ongoing injury crisis which has resulted in Aidy Roxburgh, Sam Smith, Bobby Carroll and Lewis Reilly missing many games this term.

Manager Danny Grainger will shuffle the pack again for the important Premier League fixture against Basford United (3pm) as 18th hosts 16th, with six points separating the two clubs before kick-off.

It will be the second meeting of the season in this rearranged fixture with Workington emerging 5-3 winners in the Borough Park clash two months ago with the now departed Kofi Moore scoring twice that day.

Basford have changed their management team since then and collected an excellent first away point of the season at Macclesfield in midweek.  They have amassed 13 points so far from three wins and four draws.

Reds are without a win in their last five league games, conceding thirteen goals in the process, since the 2-1 home success over FC United of Manchester at the end of September.

Their only previous visit to Greenwich Avenue was five years ago when, after establishing a 2-0 lead thanks to a Conor Tinnion free kick and a Matty Douglas header, we lost by the odd goal in five.
