MATCH PREVIEW: Match of the day
Reds are back on the road this Saturday – the small matter of a four-hour journey deep into Staffordshire for the NPL West Division’s match-of-the-day.
Second placed Leek Town host Danny Grainger’s Reds, who are currently third, in a fixture important to both clubs.
Both are trying their utmost to catch Macclesfield but neither have took points off the leaders so far this season. Macc inflicted a league double upon Town and won the first meeting against Reds.
Leek maintained their three point lead over Reds with an excellent odd goal win at Runcorn last week, an opponent often considered a bogey team to Neil Baker and Co.
Leek have been a bit of a bogey side to Reds over the years and that was probably the case earlier in the season at Borough Park. It finished as a 1-1 draw and we needed a late equaliser to salvage a point after a dominant performance.
Rob Stevenson had given Leek the lead with a spectacular goal before Dav Symington levelled matters in the eighty-fifth minute.
Indeed, the last three matches between the two have finished all square. If that is the outcome on this occasion, Macclesfield will be delighted!
Only Macclesfield and Runcorn have been victorious at Harrison Park where they have won eight, drawn two and lost two. They have only lost three games all season, the fewest in the division.
Danny Grainger will have the regular squad available for match number twenty five in what will be a pivotal month of the season.
Parking is limited at stadium but there are plenty of options nearby.
