MATCH PREVIEW: Manchester stages the big games
Two important league games in the Manchester area on Saturday with Reds involved in one of those when they travel to Shawe View to take on Danny Caldecote’s Trafford (3pm).
It will be Workington’s ninth visit to the picturesque venue but the first on a Saturday for the best part of twenty years. We have enjoyed a bit of success there in the past but just one clean sheet confirms it has always been a tough ninety minutes and it won’t be any different on this occasion.
Reds recorded their first win of the current campaign against Trafford back in August and, since then, have climbed to 3rd position. Trafford languish in 13th position having obtained 24 points from their twenty-two matches. On home soil, they have won three, drawn four and lost four.
Reuben Jerome and Ekow Coker scored our goals in the earlier meeting but, as ever, Trafford reduced the arrears in the second half via a Tom Bentham goal to make it the usual close encounter.
Danny Grainger will rely on a similar squad to the one held by Prescot Cables last week as Reds attempt to consolidate a play-off berth in NPL West.
