MATCH PREVIEW: Macc in town

Macclesfield make their second visit of 2023 to west Cumbria on Tuesday night (7.45pm) and will be keen for a quick return to form after a damaging defeat at the weekend.

They lost 4-3 in their NPL Premier Division home clash against Bradford Park Avenue and will expect the Borough Park encounter to provide an opportunity for a swift return to winning ways, at Workington’s expense.

Last season, they completed a league double over Reds on the way to the West Division title, winning 1-0 at Borough Park through a first half Alex Curran goal having emerged 4-1 winners at the Stadium.

After going up as champions, finishing fourteen points above Leek Town and fifteen more than Workington, Macc have found the Premier Division a bit more demanding and are currently 7th in the table with 33points to date.

Reds remain in 14th position having obtained 27 points, the last five from drawn matches.

Alex Bruce is now in charge of Macclesfield having actually ended his distinguished playing career at Moss Rose two years ago.

Danny Grainger will have one player back from suspension but Steven Rigg will miss out as he serves the second game of his two-match ban.
