MATCH PREVIEW: League points now the focus

After two gruelling FA Cup ties against Marine, the focus now switches to league points as the two sides go into battle for a third time in eight days.

Buoyed by their extra time victory on Tuesday, Marine will have no fears for part 3 of the mini-series whilst depleted Reds have to bounce back after what amounted to a sterling effort but to no avail.

The replay at the Marine Travel Arena was our 38th meeting against the Crosby side over the years with the honours, now, slightly in their favour. They have recorded thirteen victories in the league and cup series with Reds winning twelve and the other thirteen encounters ending in draws.

Clitheroe took advantage of our replay by leapfrogging Marine and taking over the leadership of NPL West. They recorded a 7-1 victory over Bootle so, now, only seven teams remain unbeaten after the first fortnight of the season.

Tickets will be on sale from the office up until kick-off (3pm).

Reds will complete a demanding week-end with a visit to Clitheroe on Monday but then face Market Drayton Town at home in a re-arranged fixture.
