Seven weeks on from the last home game, Reds are hoping to return to Borough Park on Saturday as they welcome Morpeth Town in NPL Premier Division action.
Last week’s home match v. Hyde United was postponed because of the severe frost but this week it has been the persistent heavy rain which has caused concern.
The Highwaymen travel to Cumbria hoping to complete a league double over Reds having recorded a 3-0 win at Craik Park back in August. There was heavy rain before that match too but it mattered not as Morpeth now play on 3G.
We felt the three-goal defeat was a little harsh in our first away game but credit to Town who scored the goals needed and kept us at bay at the other end. Andy Johnson netted twice that night with Sam Hodgson completing the scoring.
Both teams have completed eighteen matches to date but Craig Lynch’s side are one point better off than Reds ahead of kick-off. They have played ten away games so far winning twice and drawing twice.
They have an experienced squad which includes former Reds player, Connor Thomson.
Danny Grainger has a near full complement available and will be hoping to extend the loan arrangements of three of his squad, two of whom have yet to make their ‘home’ debut.
