MATCH PREVIEW: East meets west

Reds are back on the road on Tuesday with an important Premier Division fixture against Marske United at Mount Pleasant (7.45pm).

And, all of a sudden, it is the east coast side who are inform with Reds struggling somewhat.

Marske obtained their first away win on Saturday, a fine 4-1 success at Atherton Collieries, whilst Workington’s poor showing against Gainsborough made it four games without a win.

It will be Reds third visit to Mount Pleasant having drawn a league game there in 2019 before winning a friendly at the developing venue last summer.

The league match ended in a 2-2 draw back in the 2019-20 season with Reds winning the return at Borough Park, 2-0.

They then played in the East Division and were promoted to the Premier, via the play-offs, twelve months before we followed in their footsteps.

They finished 16th in the top flight last term, four points clear of the relegation zone.

With two of the leakiest defences in the Division, can we expect a bag full of goals from Tuesday’s encounter. I’m sure both clubs would settle for a goalless draw if offered a point beforehand.
