MATCH PREVIEW : Derby day
Borough Park hosts its first Easter Monday encounter for three years with Kendal Town visiting for the NPL West Cumbrian derby (3pm).
Reds Easter fixtures have been anything but local in recent years with the likes of Lancaster City, Blyth Spartans, Guiseley, Colwyn Bay and Fleetwood Town travelling for Monday afternoon action at Borough Park.
Kendal have nothing but pride to play for so will be hoping to cash in on Reds’ disappointment following the defeat at Marine on Saturday.
Although already relegated, Town will be looking to finish on a high in their final two games and avoid the wooden spoon currently being contested by them and Market Drayton Town.
Reds will be looking to bounce back after Saturday’s setback and will go into the derby hoping to complete their eighth league double of the season. December’s clash at Parkside Road saw Town take a first minute lead before goals from Kyle Harrison and Steven Rigg secured a 3-1 victory.
There were no further injuries at The Marine Travel Arena so Chris Willcock will be hoping to name the same squad for the final home game of the regular season.
The head-to-head reveals that the two teams have met 46 times in NPL action with Reds winning twenty times, Town successful on twelve occasions with fourteen matches resulting in a draw.
Since relegation in 2019, Reds have won fifty one matches from seventy six league games played, losing just eight times – but there is still no guarantee of a promotion.
The reverse at the weekend has taken matters out of our own hands but we still have to push for the six points on offer.
