MATCH PREVIEW: ‘Derby day’
Workington take on their nearest rivals at Borough Park on Monday with Clitheroe the visitors for the NPL West Division fixture (3pm).
Both teams will be hoping to bounce back after disappointing results on Saturday, Clitheroe losing (1-3) at home to 1874 Northwich and Reds going down (2-3) in Northwich v. Witton Albion.
But Clitheroe have made the better start to the new season and their six points sees them currently in 6th position whilst Reds languish in 15th spot.
With FA Cup ties to look forward to at the weekend, a win will be the perfect tonic for either side.
Twelve months ago, Reds won the reverse fixture at Shawbridge thanks to a couple of spectacular David Symington goals then completed a league double by edging the game here, 1-0.
Danny Grainger will have to make changes to the starting XI after a number of players sustained injuries at the weekend.
Ben McKenna, who played for Reds during our final two seasons in Conference North, is still with Clitheroe and is the latest of just a handful of players who have played for both clubs.
