MATCH PREVIEW: Colne [A]

After two home games last week, Reds are back on the road on Tuesday when they travel to play unbeaten Colne in a NPL North West fixture.

The Colne Reds have made an excellent start to their league programme, winning all three of their matches and banking nine points in the process.  Remarkably, those nine points have been obtained on the road with Colne winning at Dunston (1-0), Marine (2-1) and Ossett United (1-0) so far.

Their only home match ended in disappointment as Prescot Cables dumped them out of the FA Cup.

Nathan Rooney, the former Fleetwood Town, Crawley Town and Carlisle United coach, is now in charge succeeding the long serving Steve Cunningham.

Danny Grainger will travel with a similar squad to that which obtained the elusive first home win on Saturday with the notable addition of new signing, Levi Amantchi.  The tall front-man had a spell with Chesterfield last season and has also played for Blyth Spartans after developing with the Wallsend Boys Club.

Last season’s two matches, both played in torrential rain, yielded four points for Reds.  We were held to a 1-1 draw at Borough Park thanks to a late Scott Allison equaliser, after William Hasler-Gregg’s opener.  The return was more straightforward with the Cumbrian Reds emerging 3-0 winners – Allison, again, Brad Carroll and Nathan Waterston sharing the goals.

After the controversial launch of the new wine-red shirt on Saturday, Reds will be wearing an all green outfit for the trip to Colne.

Come on you Greens
