MATCH PREVIEW: Back on the road

With the weather forecast to improve, Reds will be hoping to get back into NPL West Division action on Saturday with an away trip to City of Liverpool (3pm).

“The Purps”, Liverpool’s ‘fan-owned’ club are ground-sharing with Bootle again having played last season across the river at Vauxhall Motors.

Paul McNally’s side is currently in 14th position having won eleven, drawn four and lost sixteen of their thirty one matches so far.  One of their four drawn matches was obtained at Borough Park back in October when they held Reds in a goalless draw.

Dav on the attack vs CoL

It was probably a game we should have won having had three decent efforts on target, another rebounding off the woodwork, a corner count of 12-1 in our favour and a Lewis Reilly penalty saved by Ryan Hamer.  A good point from a CoL perspective but our view was a case of two points dropped.

That was the first time we hadn’t obtained maximum points in five meetings against CoL.

In both the ’19-20 and ’20-21 seasons, the teams only met each other once, because of the pandemic, but, last season, we inflicted a league double upon them.

Sam Smith will miss the game as he serves the second of his four match suspension.
