Last game under the BP lights?

Workington and South Shields go into tonight’s game at Borough Park (7.45pm) desperate for the three points.

Nothing less will do for Reds as they attempt to pull off the great escape whilst Shields will have one eye on the ball and the other on matters at Farsley Celtic.

Shields are one point behind the leaders, who host Stafford Rangers, whilst Reds play their game in hand over Bamber Bridge hoping to reduce the four-point gap.

There couldn’t be a bigger contrast in form with Shields arriving in west Cumbria on the back of five successive wins and Lee Andrews’ side having lost three on the bounce and struggling for form at home.

And could this be the last game under the Borough Park lights? It certainly will be for this season but beyond that ….. who knows?

Reds will have to contend with a few injury problems – all of a defensive nature. Josh Calvert and Gari Rowntree are likely to miss the game and Sam Smith will have a fitness test before kick-off.

The game was originally scheduled on a Saturday last month and would have produced the biggest gate of the season, but quite a few Shields fans will be making their way across the A69 and, no doubt, will out-shout the home support.
