In-house action
The first team already had a fixture-free Saturday so, when the Development team’s County League match at Northbank was postponed, the respective squads played each other in a hastily arranged bounce match on the 4G pitch at Penrith RUFC.
An even contest saw the deadlock broken when Steven Rigg opened the scoring with a sublime curling shot but the second string equalised with an equally fine effort from Cain Pears.

Reuben Jerome restored the lead for the seniors but the Development Squad bounced back almost immediately with an Aidan Howarth effort finding a way past Danny Eccles.
Brad Carroll’s well finished goal gave the first team the lead for the third time but, on this occasion, they didn’t concede an equaliser.
Indeed, a typical Nic Evangelinos goal towards the end secured a less than convincing 4-2 ‘win’ for the seniors.
Five members of the first team squad were unavailable whilst Scott Allison and Louis Rowe didn’t partake in the match, instead being resigned to ‘light duties’ under the supervision of physio, Ronan Irving.
