FIXTURE RELEASE DAY: Who, where and when?

There’ll be a feeling of déjà vu when our first-team kick-off their 34th season of Northern Premier League football.

Like they did last year, Danny Grainger’s men will launch their league campaign against Pickering Town.

Although, the West Cumbrians will, this time, be travelling to North Yorkshire for the opener on Saturday, September 19.

12 months ago, Reds emerged 4-1 winners against Pickering, a score they repeated at Mill Lane (pictured) last Christmas time.

Our first home game in the NPL North West Division will be against Trafford who visit Borough Park on Tuesday, September 29.

The fixture list certainly looks different this year with the early rounds of both FA Cup and Trophy prominent from the word go.

Indeed, Reds will play in the former the week before travelling for the opening day.

The Cumbrian Derby matches against Kendal Town will be staged in October (Parkside Road) and January (Borough Park) on Tuesday, October 12, and Saturday, January 30 respectively.

Many of the fixtures are a reverse of last season’s schedule with Reds travelling to Dunston on Boxing Day before hosting Pontefract Collieries on New Year’s Day.

Over the Easter weekend, they will travel to City of Liverpool on the Saturday (April 3) with Dunston due at Borough Park on the Monday afternoon (April 5).

We will also travel to the 2019-20’s final resting place, Tadcaster Albion, on Saturday, November 21.

Two of the three trips never made come back-to-back in the league calendar, with trips to Marine and Brighouse Town on Saturday, 5 and 19 December respectively.

The third, Widnes at their rugby base, comes late in the calendar again, Saturday, March 27.

Ruben Jerome will, no doubt, be looking forward to returning to former club, Ramsbottom United, on Halloween – FA Trophy commitments permitting!

Our penultimate league game is a trip to Pontefract on Bank Holiday Monday (May 3).

Reds’ 36-match league programme will conclude on Saturday, May 8 with Colne travelling to Cumbria.
