Fifties star passes away
One of Reds oldest surviving Football League players, Jimmy Scott, has passed away aged 92.
He signed for Workington in 1954 and spent three seasons with the club after signing from Alloa Athletic. He played most of his football for Reds in the North Eastern League, but was handed his Football League debut by Bill Shankly and featured in half a dozen games towards the end of the ’54-55 season scoring one goal. He netted 10 goals in the NEL.
A Glaswegian, Jimmy settled in the town and was well liked.
Our condolences go to his family and friends.
