Farewell to Fin

Teenager Finlay Wallbank has left the club and will pursue his career a little closer to home next season.

The nineteen-year-old joined Workington last summer having progressed through the youth ranks at hometown club, Preston North End.

The talented defender appeared in half a dozen of the pre-season games before making his Northern Premier League debut at Morpeth Town last August. Fin played in the heart of the defence initially and then settled into the right fullback role.

He was a regular in the side until just before Christmas, lost his place after a few niggling injuries and the second half of the season saw most of his appearances via the bench.

Fin’s only goal for the club was netted in the home match v. Morpeth with his equaliser helping the side to a point in a 2-2 draw. He showed great commitment and loyalty to the cause in his 25 starts and a further sixteen appearances as a substitute.

We wish him well for the next chapter of his career.
