Undaunted by the very early start – the young Reds were on the road by 6.30am – the trip to Cheshire got the New Year off to a good start.
Reds opened the scoring just five minutes into the game when Harley Edmondson netted his first goal of the season, heading home Liam White’s perfectly flighted corner.
But the hosts responded and were back on terms before half time.
Numerous chances were created, but also squandered, as Reds dominated after half time.
But they did retake the lead after an Albion defender handled the ball inside the area and Joe Douglas maintained his composure and duly converted the penalty.
Witton pushed for a late equaliser and Reds had to survive a nerve wracking final five minutes but they kept Albion at bay and secured three valuable points.
It was Reds’ fifth win of the season and they remain second in the table, one point behind leaders AR Elite.
