Recap
Reds U18s played their second group match in the JPL Cup and gave a good account of themselves despite finishing on the wrong side of a frustrating score line.
Despite a positive start, Reds failed to take any of the early chances created and they were two down at the interval, a thirty-yard screamer, against the run of play, and a scrappy second which could have prevented.
And luck was still against them after the break when they squandered a couple of one-on-one chances and struck the woodwork then, to compound matters, Rylands increased their lead after cashing in on another Reds’ mistake.
But credit to the lads who showed great character and got back in contention with a couple of quick-fire goals from Liam White (pictured), two good finishes, which found the bottom corner of the net.
And whilst pushing forward for what would have been a deserved equaliser, Reds conceded a sloppy fourth goal when they were caught on the counter attack for the hosts to secure the victory with the last kick of the game.
