Recap

After a heavy defeat in their opening friendly at Windscale, Reds JPL squad lost narrowly at home to our Scottish neighbours, Gretna.

It was a cracking contest, with some good positive football played by both sides, and decided by a Prince Mpwese goal seven minutes from time.

The Gretna substitute finished of a swift counter attack with a neatly despatched goal to confirm the Black & Whites superiority in the later stages of the game.

It had been an even contest for seventy minutes but Gretna finished the stronger.

Reds had created, and missed, several chances, the best of which a Harrison Rodgers header which hit the upright.

Manager Craig Johnston was pleased with the performance despite conceding the decider so late in the day.

It was a very good workout against a decent Gretna side and we were very competitive in all areas throughout.  We still have plenty to work on which we will do over the next few weeks.

Team: Lucas Walker, Leyton Roberts, Callum Bell, Luke Routledge, Harley Edmonson, Owen Johnston, Alfie Scofield, Sam Christian, Harrison Rogers, Kelvin Amor, Alfie MacDonaugh.  Substitutes – Brad Keenan, Jayden Fulton, Joe Douglas, Bobby White, Suproto Mansur.
