“Enjoys the stakes of senior football”

Young midfield stalwart Ceiran Casson says that he enjoys the stakes of senior football, having made ‘quite a good start to the season.’

The defensive midfielder, who scored on the opening day last month, has earned plaudits for his mature displays in the middle of the park and spoke at last night’s training session.

Personally, I think I’ve made quite a good start.

I’ve got my position in the team and I know my role, to keep the ball moving and hopefully, let the attacking players do their job.

Casson, in his first campaign of first team football, has described the game as a ‘lot more physical’ but is enjoying the senior stakes.

I enjoy it. Compared to under 18s football, there’s more of a competitive edge. You’ve got win when there’s three points up for grabs.

The crowds help us a lot. They get your confidence up and keep you going, it’s always something to work for.”

Manager Danny Grainger has supplemented the Reds squad with a talented crop of youth, and the 18-year-old thinks that his boss’ faith in him has helped him come out of the 2019-20 blocks fast.

My confidence has grown over the past few weeks,” he explained.

I started off pre-season taking my time getting into it but, as soon as the season started, I got to know my role and know all my teammates now.

In the midfield trio, Casson has played alongside highly-rated players such as captain Conor Tinnion, Brad Carroll and Brad Hubbold, and says they ‘keep him right’ on the pitch.

There’s a lot of experience between them. Tinners has been here for ages and the Brads have played senior football for a while.

It’s helped me keep going, and they keep me right if I’m not doing my job. They push me to do the best I can.

Casson will be hoping to continue his record of playing every minute in the Northern Premier League this term, as Reds visit Runcorn Linnets tomorrow at the Millbank Linnets Stadium, kick-off 3pm.
