Danny on the move
After two frustrating years in the Borough Park hot seat, Danny Grainger is leaving his managerial post to pursue an exciting opportunity north of the border.
Appointed Workington manager on 1st May, 2019, Danny immediately revitalised the club still hurting after a painful relegation from the NPL Premier Division. He was on course to lead Reds to promotion in his first season but, with just seven games to go, the campaign was declared ‘null and void’ with the team ten points clear of nearest rivals Ramsbottom United.
His second season at the helm was even more frustrating with a late start followed by an even earlier finish with Reds sitting unbeaten in third spot, albeit after just nine completed games.
In his ‘two seasons’ at the club, Danny was in charge of 57 competitive matches and the team’s record during that period saw 39 wins recorded and only 8 defeats suffered. Reds scored 139 goals with 51 conceded during the Grainger era.
Danny also pulled on the shirt during his time at the club, adding another fifteen appearances to his impressive career total. The Board have already met to discuss the way forward with first team training due to commence on Tuesday.
