Cup draw produces A66 derby
Workington’s reward for their emphatic FA cup win over Prestwich Heys is an attractive tie against National North outfit, Darlington.
They will make a first ever visit to Blackwell Meadows over the weekend commencing 15 September for the Second Round Qualifying tie. It will be the first FA Cup contest between the clubs since a First Round encounter at Feethams forty nine years ago. Darlington won that day, 1-0.
Alun Armstrong’s side are in the lower reaches of the division above the NPL Premier after an indifferent start to the new campaign but finished a solid tenth last season. There are some familiar names in their squad – players we have met in recent years – including ex. Red, Jacob Hazel.
Prize money for the game will again be split, £3,375 for the eventual winners and £1,125 for the losers.
