Cumberland Cup on the menu

Reds will be in cup action on Tuesday when they host Westmorland League champions, Keswick, at Borough Park (7.45pm).

Danny Grainger has named himself in the squad for the Cumberland Cup quarter final tie with several first teamers likely to miss out because of injury.

Conor Tinnion probably won’t be risked as he recovers from the strain that has kept him on the bench for the two most recent matches while Charlie Bowman, Ash Kelly and Luke Ivison will not feature. Jordan Little is cup-tied.

Cleator Moor Celtic are already through to the last four of the competition having knocked out Carlisle City last week. Reds and Keswick will be hoping to join them as will the winners of the Penrith v. Carlisle United and Workington Athletic v. Kirkoswald ties.

The two last met in the competition during the ’15-16 season when Workington emerged 3-0 winners in the semi final and went on to lift the cup.

Keswick also play in the Westmorland County Cup but made their exit from that competition on Saturday so will be hoping to avoid a rather unusual double in West Cumbria.

It will be the eighteenth time the clubs have met in the Cumberland Cup but the most recent encounter was a pre-season friendly at Borough Park at the beginning of last season.

Former Workington favourite, Stephen Hindmarch, has been named in the Keswick squad as has George Frampton who has turned out Reds Reserves this season.

There will be reduced admission charges for tie which will be settled on the night:

Adult: £5

Concession: £3

Youth: £2

Child: £1
