CONTRACT: Goalkeeper Atkinson going nowhere
We are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Jim Atkinson has re-signed with at the club for the 2021/22 season.
Atkinson, 26, has been Danny Grainger’s no. 1 between the posts for the past two curtailed campaigns, making 47 starts and keeping an impressive 21 clean sheets (a rate of just under 45%).
The former stopper for three clubs above the border said over the phone yesterday (in an interview which will be published tomorrow): “It’s good to know what I’m doing next year.
“It was just a case of Danny wanting to keep me or not, and he did after speaking to him.
“It’s nice to have it done and dusted so I can get ready for the new season.”
Gaffer Grainger added: “Jim’s vital to the way we play and he’s great to have in the dressing room.
“He wants to keep progressing, which is what we want to do, too.”
Atkinson’s comedic partner-in-crime, Dav Symington, has also today re-signed with the club.
