Club statement – current situation

The new Board met to discuss the knock-on effect of the suspension of football, due to COVID-19, with numerous concerns debated at the near three hour meeting.

Although there are many questions at the moment, there are very few answers and all clubs are awaiting guidance from the governing bodies regarding unprecedented business issues.

The Northern Premier League is working closely with the FA, pressing for our clubs to receive financial support to off-set the impact of the pandemic.

Most pressing concern is player contracts and the FA is looking at this issue as a matter of great urgency.

With most clubs living from week to week and relying very much on match day income, gate receipts and sponsorship, all face a very uncertain future.

Officials discussed new fund raising avenues to meet fixed expenditure, including wages for contracted players and staff.

It is an ongoing situation and supporters will be informed of developments periodically.
