“Can’t thank the fans enough”

Manager Danny Grainger says that Reds ‘can’t thank the fans enough’ for turning out in their vast numbers to support the team during their unbeaten league start. 

Grainger, who has won five of his seven Northern Premier League games in the North West division so far, got his side back to winning ways on Tuesday and opted for a different shape to the usual 3-5-2.

No disrespect to Kendal [Town], we knew they were gonna sit in so if we could defend with a three and one in front, I thought the attacking six could do damage.

We started really well and got the goal which settled us down, after that it was just a case of being clinical. Their goalkeeper made some great saves and kept the scoreline respectable at times.

A trip to Greater Manchester and Mossley is on the agenda tomorrow, before Kendal visit Borough Park again in the Integro League Cup next Tuesday – something the boss has been thinking about.

We’ve spoken about Tuesday, and we’re wanting to give a few younger lads game time to get them bedded into the first team environment.

It’ll be a good chances for lads who haven’t had the full amount of games as well to get minutes on the board but first and foremost, we’re concentrating on Mossley.

Back home, Borough Park has not only seen the team top of the league but had top attendances for step four in England.

Grainger has been more than appreciative of the support, ranging from just below 500 to almost 700.

When we first came through the door, we wanted to make sure that there was entertainment there and I feel like we’re giving it.

Obviously, there’s frustration at times with so much of the ball and not creating chance after chance.

On Tuesday night, I felt that we put on a performance which we’d like to think people would come back and watch again,” he continued.

We can’t thank the fans enough, the last two Tuesday nights have been horrendous weather but they’ve turned out in great numbers, which is something myself and the boys are really happy about.

Reds travel to Seel Park tomorrow for a 3pm kick-off, before a 7:45pm start against their Cumbrian rivals next week.
