Brad Carroll: Never been in a dressing room like Reds’

Hat-trick hero Brad Carroll says he’s ‘never been in a dressing room like’ Reds’ current one following the 0-6 Cumbrian Derby win on Saturday.

Midfielder Carroll, who netted the second, third and fourth goals at former club Kendal Town, spoke post-match at Parkside Road on a variety of topics.

Firstly, the captain on the day expressed his delight at not only a first career hat-trick, but three valuable points to move his side four points clear at the top of the table.

“The most important thing was three points,” said Carroll.

“But it’s my first one so that’s an achievement for me. I’m happy with the way we all performed. A clean sheet again, I think that’s four on the bounce, so that’s very good.”

It extended maximum points for Reds from the four games since a defeat to now second-placed Ramsbottom United.

10 away goals in five days without conceding makes it 14-0 since the 2-0 loss last month and Carroll praised the spirit inside a dressing room which has had such a blistering bounce-back.

“I think it shows a lot of grit and determination from the lads,” he explained.

‪”It’s just different class; the vibe and togetherness we’ve got in the squad is phenomenal.

“I’ve been at a few clubs now and I’ve never been in a dressing room like this. It’s just brilliant to be around and a part of.”‬

Carroll, who was subbed off on 74 minutes – covered in mud – also saluted the massive away support on Saturday, as almost 300 Reds fans came down to South Cumbria to boost the team.

“We knew they were coming down in numbers. It’s just as good for them as it is for us.

“To have them come away and outnumber the home side is just fantastic. Credit to all of them and what they’ve done.”

Reds are back at Borough Park on Saturday to face Clitheroe with kick-off at 3pm.
