Bootle bound
Yet another ‘first ever’ meeting for Reds on Saturday when they travel to play City of Liverpool in BetVictor North West action (3pm).
A club still in its infancy, CoL have achieved more in three seasons than some clubs have achieved in a life time. After several years in the planning, the club was eventually formed in time for the 2016-17 campaign and they raced through the North West Counties League with two rapid promotions.
They attained Step 4 football after winning the title, the most important of the six trophies they have won so far.
The Purples currently ground share with Bootle FC with the Vesty Road stadium expecting a decent crowd for the inaugural City of Liverpool v. Workington encounter.
Their first home game at this level attracted a near 400 crowd and they witnessed a 4-1 victory over Kendal Town.
Having been involved in a war of attrition on Monday, Reds will find CoL a different proposition altogether as the Merseysiders like to play a high tempo brand of attacking football.
Gari Rowntree will serve his one match suspension but Kieran Maguire and new signing, Matty Clarke, will come into the evolving squad.
There will be a decent travelling support backing Reds (sporting their new change outfit for the first time) with a coach and several cars making the trip to the now named Berry Street Garage Stadium.
