Workington can confirm another pre-season game in the north east with a visit to Whitley Bay on 22 July, 2023 (3pm).

Reds will travel to play the Northern League outfit at Hillheads Park, a week before a trip to Ashington.

Whitley Bay were regular opponents of Reds in the NPL during the eighties and nineties and we also met in the FA Cup during that period. But our last visit, thirteen years ago, was in pre-season action, when now FIFA official Michael Oliver was in charge of an entertaining game which resulted in a 2-2 draw.

Andy Murray-Jones and Shaun Vipond (penalty) scored the Reds goals that day and Conor Tinnion was in the squad.

Bay recorded 22 league wins last season but finished in 4th position in the Northern League first division.
