‘All starting to come together’, Brad Hubbold interview
Yesterday’s Man of the Match and goalscorer Brad Hubbold says Reds’ play is ‘all starting to come together’ following the victory over Tadcaster Albion.
Back at Borough Park following two weeks of postponements, a goal each from Hubbold and Nathan Waterston was enough to beat the Yorkshire outfit, who were third in the NPL North West Division at the start of play.
Post-match, the midfielder expressed how vital the 2-0 win was, saying:
Obviously, it was very important for us.
We need to keep beating the top teams and keeping the gap between us and them, especially with their games in-hand.
Everyone of us, even in the warm-up, was pushing for the win.
Both Reds strikes were the result of good build-up play that left the Brewers in knots, and Hubbold praised his teammates’ quality.
It was a great bit of play from Scotty [Allison], who was involved in both goals. Nath was dragging defenders all over the place, so we just created for each other.
Everything that we work on is all starting to come together, so it’s been fantastic.”
Positionally, the former Holker Old Boys man has moved into a more advanced role as of late in midfield, and his fourth goal of the season was evidence of his taking well to his new role.
He explained:
It’s changed a little bit from sitting deep in pre-season.
I’ve been asked to go forward which gives the likes of Cass the chance to sit in there, break up play and getting us going forward.
Tinners does what he does best controlling the midfield and going box-to-box. That just gives me license to play higher recently and make those runs in-behind.
Reds will meet Taddy again on Tuesday, as they travel to the Global Stadium for a Buildbase FA Trophy First Round Qualifer.
Hubbold sounds confident ahead of the cup clash, that will determine where Reds play next Saturday.
We’ll go again and try to play exactly the same way. If we do, they won’t be able to cope with our movement, runs off the ball and things like that.
Hopefully, we can go and show them again.
Tuesday’s match will kick-off at 7:45pm, with the stadium located on Igns Lane, LS24 9AY.
