Able Cables will test leaders
After Tuesday’s weather related postponement, Reds will be hoping to beat the weather and a decent Prescot Cables outfit as league action returns to Borough Park for the first time in a month (3pm).
There will be a precautionary pitch inspection on Saturday morning after the recent heavy rain, with lighter showers forecast for match day.
Danny Grainger will have more bodies available with Taylor Charters’ loan from Carlisle United reinstated, as Reds hope to build on last Saturday’s success at Ossett Albion. Dav Symington will also return to the squad.
Cables have never beaten Reds in six previous league meetings but were impressive winners at Workington twelve months ago in an Integro League Cup tie. They are currently ninth in BetVictor North West having obtained 23 points from their sixteen matches. To date, they have won twice and drawn three times on the road.
- Cables were Reds first ever opponents in a promotion play-off match. That was back in the 2004-05 season when a 3-1 Workington victory took them to the play-off Final against Farsley Celtic.
