MATCH PREVIEW: First-footing in the north east

Reds will bring in the New Year with a trip to Tyneside in what will be the senior team’s first appearance at the Hebburn Sports Ground.  Our juniors have played at the ground previously in the FA Youth Cup with mixed success.

Victories on the 1st January have been few and far between over the years, and almost non-existent on the road, so Reds will be hoping to start 2025 with a rare success and a welcome three-pointer.

The teams met for the first time in August when we obtained a narrow league win at Borough Park then, five days later, lost in the FA Cup as the Hebburn players and supporters travelled across the A69 twice in a week.

Since then, they have maintained a challenge for the play-offs in what has been a very good debut season at Step 3 on the back of winning the East Division title last April.

On Boxing Day, Town obtained a point from their drawn game at Stockton and, prior to that, recorded a comfortable 3-1 win over Blyth Spartans.  Reds, in contrast, drew both of their recent two matches.

The first team trained on Monday, with a similar squad to the one on duty on Boxing Day expected to be named for the Hebburn encounter.

Hebburn are currently 6th in the Premier Division table with 35 points from their twenty-two matches whilst Reds are 13th having obtained 27 points from twenty-three played.
