MATCH PREVIEW: In form Ilkeston in town

Reds return to league action with a tough sequence of three matches, the first of which is the home clash v. Ilkeston Town on Saturday (3pm).

Until last season, Workington had a near perfect league record against Town but the 6-1 hammering we suffered at the New Manor ground became our first defeat in the series – four meetings in Conference North followed by four encounters in the NPL.  In ten league tussles, we have won eight, drawn one and lost one.

But Town have won at Borough Park on two previous occasions – a League Cup tie back in 2004 then, more significantly, a play-off semi nine years ago.

They are currently in 6th position with nineteen points on the board from their opening eleven league matches, seven points better off than us.  On the road they have registered three wins to date including a 2-1 success at Morpeth on Tuesday.

Reds will be without Jamie Allen for the Premier Division fixture as he is on international duty with Montserrat although, apart from the injured Ceiran Casson, the rest of the squad should be available.

Away games at Hyde United (19th) and Stockton Town (23rd) follow Saturday’s home clash.
