CLUB NEWS: Luck of the draw
Reds received a fifth successive home tie in the FA Trophy when the draw was made on Monday. The upshot being that league rivals, Bamber Bridge, will have to travel to Borough Park in three-weeks-time for the First Round tie.
It will give Reds an early opportunity to avenge the recent league defeat on home soil when ‘Brig emerged 2-1 winners.
Since then, Reds have put together a mini winning run and are in better shape than they were a month ago but the focus is on three important league games before the cup-tie.
Brig, who recently went public on a cash crisis at Irongate, pocketed the welcome prize money of £2,450 following an excellent 1-0 victory at Guiseley at the weekend. Former Reds fullbacks, Fin Wallbank and Liam Brockbank, played their part in the victory which was secured with a second half Simon Grand goal.
Reds have only met Bamber Bridge in the Trophy on one previous occasion and the Preston outfit emerged emphatic 5-2 winners at Borough Park during the 1996-97 campaign. As a result of our progress in the Trophy, the scheduled league game at FC United of Manchester on 26 October will be rescheduled.
