Career milestone for Dav

Dav Symington’s 89th minute goal ensured a comfortable Workington home win against Whitby Town and, what was a ‘normal’ strike from the skipper, became a significant one for the Reds’ talisman.

It was his 100th competitive goal for the club and scored eight years after his first.

He ended last season on 96 career goals for Reds then opened his account for the current campaign with the equaliser against Leek Town in August.

His 98th, 99th and 100th goals were scored in eight days against Matlock Town, Bamber Bridge and, ultimately, v. Whitby Town.

Dav’s first for the club was via a direct free-kick in a 2-2 draw against Frickley Athletic back in September, 2016 with his first at Borough Park, a penalty, in a 1-0 success v. Grantham Town.

Since then, he has netted against fifty different teams, scoring 88 league goals and a dozen in cups and play-off matches.  The late goal against Whitby Town was his 64th at Borough Park with 36 scored on the road.

There are three hat-tricks on his CV to date (v. Mickleover Sports, Newcastle Town and a four-goal blast v. Witton Albion) and he has scored twice in a game on fourteen occasions.

His seasonal tallies:

2016-17   15
