MATCH PREVIEW: Able Cables, next up

Reds winning run came to an end on Monday in the hard-fought draw at Clitheroe but they did reach the 40 points mark and, with over fifty still to play for, they will be hoping to replicate their form over the first half of the season between now and April.

That should guarantee a play-off berth, at least, although nothing can be taken for granted in this league.

On a day when the leaders, Macclesfield, host second placed, Leek Town and fourth takes on fifth (Runcorn Linnets v. Mossley), Reds and their supporters have to concentrate on what will be a tough fixture at Borough Park when Prescot Cables come calling.

They are just on the fringe of the play-offs at the moment but have already won against Colne, Hanley Town, Trafford and Widnes on their travels.

Back in August, the two teams drew 1-1 in the second game of the season with John Murphy opening the scoring for the hosts and Reds scrambling a late equaliser from James Hooper.

We also squandered a penalty in the first half but Kevin Lynch’s team had a goal disallowed and hit the woodwork on one occasion.

Ceiran Casson remains the major doubt ahead of the game, having missed both matches over the holiday period. Otherwise, Danny Grainger should have a near full strength squad to select from.

The team will be playing in their black and grey change strip on Saturday in support of Shelter’s #NoHomeKit campaign.

Kick-off 3pm.
