MEDIA RELEASE: Reds first home game

Workington Reds would like to acknowledge the support and co-operation given by fans after their first home league game of the season.

The club have a ground limit of 400 spectators in line with the Covid restrictions set across all clubs in our league.

Vice Chairman Phil Norman, the clubs Covid Officer, was delighted with the way supporters engaged with the restrictions.

Our fans were marvellous in the way they adhered to the latest social distancing guidance, particularly in the wearing of face masks and the no standing rules in the Tony Hopper Bar.

Director Dave Bowden had the unenviable task of having to manage ticket sales.

We sold out in the Trafford game before kick-off and could have sold another 70 – 80 tickets on the day. Some of our long-standing fans were unable to watch the game and without exception understood our predicament. Their good humour in such a disappointing situation was superb.

Undoubtedly, we will have the same issues this Saturday when we entertain City of Liverpool. We thank them for their patience and understanding. It is crucial that we adhere to the regulations to ensure we can, at the very least, maintain these current limitations.

Please Note: Season Ticket Holders have priority standing and there are a limited number of Season Tickets still available.
