“I’m absolutely buzzing” – Cass on his first Player of the Month award
October Player of the Month Ceiran Casson says the Reds squad have ‘complete trust’ in each other as fixtures once again begin to stack up.
Casson, who recorded another impressive 90 minutes in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Tadcaster Albion, received his award pre-match and discussed the accolade post-match.
It’s the first time I’ve got a Player of the Month award so, I’m absolutely buzzing.
The 18-year-old has made a smooth transition into senior football following leaving Carlisle United in summer, and has shone in holding midfield.
Playing a role that often requires experience, Casson explained the impact of making the jump, saying:
Coming out of youth football, it’s a lot hard than I first thought.
Playing Saturday-Tuesday takes its toll, but you’ve just got to keep going and keep doing your job.
Everyone as a group has just got tighter, and we all know what we’re doing. We’ve just got complete trust in everyone.
Manager Danny Grainger has been delighted with his youngster’s performance so far this season and described him as ‘fantastic.’
When you look at him, he’s a young lad who only turned 18 on the opening day.
The three youngsters that came from Carlisle, I thought it would take a little bit of time to settle in; with Jay [Kelly] who’s gone away now, Brock [Liam Brockbank] and Cass.
Cass has just sat in the middle of the park and ran the show at times.
I think between him, Tinners [Conor Tinnion] and whichever Brad [Carroll or Hubbold] has played next to him, have really forged a good relationship.
His performances have been a real compliment to him, and with his attitude on a personal basis, he’s been fantastic.
Casson is expected to feature in the Buildbase FA Trophy trip to familiar faces Tadcaster tomorrow, kick-off 7:45pm at the Global Stadium.
