This Saturday’s friendly fixture against Barrow AFC has been reversed, and will now be played at Holker Street, kick off 3pm.
The club has reluctantly taken this decision as, due to the weather delays to the pitch work at Derwent Park, some of the necessary remedial pre football season ground work can only be started on Monday 22nd July .
Arrangements agreed with Workington Town prior to the Allerdale executive’s decision to not go ahead with the new stadium will be honoured, so Town will have Borough Park available on the 14th and 21st July.
The board of directors has a plan in place to ensure that the pitch is football ready at the earliest possible date.Chairman John Mackay
Of course we would have preferred to play the match at Borough Park, in front of our home fans. But we have to protect our players, especially with the effort they are putting in, getting ready for the start of the season. Barrow will give us a stern test wherever we play them, and we’re grateful that they will host the match.Manager Danny Grainger
